About
The Founder

Hi, I’m Gigi Goin!

I'm the founder of Milk Lady Markets—a woman-owned business with a big heart for good food and good neighbors. I'm all about creating spaces where folks feel connected, supported, and well-fed. With a strong sense of responsibility (and a lot of love for local farms), I’m here to help community and nourishment grow side by side.

I was born in Trinidad and spent my early years learning the rhythms of the land and the value of a shared meal. Some of my fondest memories are of helping my grandmother tend to our farmstead garden and care for chickens. She taught me not just how to grow and harvest food, but how to feed others with care and intention—a lesson that still guides me today.

As a teenager, my family moved to Brooklyn, NY, where my world expanded—and so did my dreams. I went on to build a fulfilling 20-year career in human resources and talent development, helping others grow in their own right. But after the 2008 market shift nudged me to take stock, my love for the land came calling again.

That path took me to the mountains of western North Carolina, where I got my hands dirty learning the art of biodynamic farming. From there, to Maryland, where I rolled up my sleeves and put those lessons to work. Before I knew it, I was swapping office shoes for garden boots—and finding real joy in growing food and building community!

In 2011, I started Milk Lady Markets as a way to bring together my love of farming, food, and people. I stay connected to the local food scene by showing up—whether it’s at a Future Harvest gathering, a Montgomery County Food Council meeting, or a Manna Food Center event.

These days, we manage farmers' markets across Montgomery County, Maryland, helping connect local farmers, artisans, and makers with folks who value good food and sustainable choices. The markets have grown into true community hubs—where neighbors catch up, small businesses thrive, and healthy living is just part of the everyday rhythm.

At the heart of it all, I just love making people feel welcome and well-fed, in every sense of the word. To me, that’s how you build something lasting: one good meal, one good neighbor, one well-fed customer at a time.
