We are proud to celebrate farmers markets and what they mean to us as consumers, as members of a community and broader foodshed*. Farmers markets afford customers access to fresh, local food, while giving farmers an important opportunity for direct marketing** which helps those who work hardest to put food on our table to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Farmers markets are cultural centers, and in the time of COVID-19, they have provided a crucial source of food security amidst disrupted commodity networks in a well ventilated outdoor venue for safe shopping.
