Hi, I’m Gigi Goin, founder of Milk Lady Markets and a lifelong advocate for healthy living, community connection, and the joy of discovery. My love for fresh, vibrant produce began on my family’s homestead farm in Trinidad, where my grandmother taught me to grow everything from avocados, pineapples, and guavas to beans and flowers. I raised chickens and ducks, feathered and dressed them post-harvest, until age 11 when I immigrated with my immediate family to Brooklyn, New York. As an adult, I built a successful 20-year career in human resources and talent development. But the 2008 market crash caused me to reevaluate my path, and my instinct for farming reemerged—much to my surprise!
I dove into the world of agriculture, taking farm courses, joining associations, and interning in biodynamic farming, permaculture, and organic growing in Western North Carolina. This journey not only reconnected me with my roots but also revealed a new purpose: creating spaces where communities could access fresh, local food.
In 2011, I launched Milk Lady Markets to blend my love of farming, food, and community. I stay attuned to local food issues by attending events organized by the Montgomery County Food Council and Manna Food Center. Today, we manage farmers' markets across Montgomery County, Maryland, connecting local farmers, artisans, and vendors with customers who appreciate quality and sustainability. These markets have become vibrant community hubs, fostering healthier lifestyles and supporting small, sustainable businesses. One of my favorite parts of this work is curating incredible products and introducing them to customers— and hearing their joy when they return, excited to share how much they loved what they discovered. Milk Lady Markets is my dream come to life, and I am so grateful to grow alongside the inspiring vendors, loyal customers, and amazing communities we serve.
