Matching Dollars For WIC, SFNMP & SNAP
The Milk Lady Farmers Markets' Matching Dollars Program returns in 2021 when markets open. The program helps make farm fresh food more affordable to customers who spend their governmental nutrition assistance benefits at our markets.
Matching Dollars are free market tokens we give out at our Welcome Booth. The tokens match any purchase made by shoppers using SNAP (Food Stamps), WIC (Women, Infants and Children) or SFMNP (Senior Nutrition) coupons. The market tokens can be spent at any farm stand at Derwood and Shady Grove farmers markets. So your benefits will go twice as far at our farmers markets with the help of our Matching Dollars program.

We are so grateful for 2019 funding from our sponsor and partner Neighborhoood Church of Rockville and other past donors like Adventist Healthcare, Bill H. Hodges, Montgomery County Government, Phyllis D. Goin, Wheaton Business District, Cedar Ridge Community Church, Kohl’s, Capital One and generous individual donors like you!
SHARING THE JOY OF FRESH FOOD!
Our chefs offer cooking demos based on seasonal ingredients from our farmers. Our two recent chef partners at both markets are United Healthcare Community Nutrition and University of MD's Food Supplement Nutrition Education (FSNE).
Our Sample Booth initiative at Derwood market is where we offer and educate the public on in-season products from our food vendors and farmers. We slice and sample produce like turnips, carrots, kholrabi and introduce them for salads; also fruits, preserves and cheeses. |
